Professional and Uncompromising!
The riesling grape, king of the vines, archetypal German vine, is our passion. It is responsible for a winemaking tradition in the Moselle valley stretching back to the Celts and the Romans.
The wine estate Kiesch in Bernkastel-Andel, lying directly on the banks of the Moselle river, has, for many generations, provided wines tailored individually to your taste. The pinnacle of epicurean satisfaction produced entirely from the steep slopes of the Moselle valley.
Our vines flourish only on the slaty soils of the steep, sunny slopes above the Moselle and are cultivated in the traditional fashion. Although it is difficult, the rewards are delicate, fruity wines with all the virtues of the Riesling grape.
The Riesling wines which are produced here in the Moselle valley can be gentle and soft and yet at the same time sophisticated and fruity. No other white wine can be so light, so stimulating, can hide its fruityness behind a tracery of acidity. Characteristic for the Riesling are the nuances, the subtle differences between individual wines and between various vineyards.

The Courage to Modernise.
For the production of the wine we follow traditional methods that have been successful for generations.
When it comes to the presentation of the wines we have moved with the times.
After careful consideration we have introduced a clear glass bottle in addition to the traditional tall slim German wine bottle ("Schlegel") made out of green glass.
Not only is the "Schlegel" bottle difficult to fit into the refridgerator for cooling, the dark green colour of the glass
restricts our view of what is most important - the contents. This is why we offer our customers an alternative bottle of clear glass,
so that they can see the wine and its colour which is also important to its enjoyment.

Golden October - A Golden Year
On a wine estate, October is the month where we have to work hardest.
All hands are required to pick the grapes. Not much time is left over for guests or festivities. And the
wine which runs fresh from the press is a long way from the quality which it will one day achieve. Not
until the Spring is it possible to form an opinion about the new vintage.
Wine festivals take place in the Moselle valley throughout the year. The colourful October days are beloved
of hikers, but for wine connoisseurs other seasons of the year are much more interesting.
